Tom Speller (H97-2002) has made it through to the quarter finals of Univeristy Challenge representing Jesus College, Oxford. Tim has been at Jesus College since 2006 firstly doing a MPhil in European Politics and since 2008 a DPhil in Politics. He previously spent 3 years at King's College London and he is currently on a scholarship at the Library of Congress in Washington DC.
In the first round of University Challenge, Tom's team defeated Clare College, Cambridge 215:165 and in the second round they were victorious over Warwick 200:170. The next round, the quarter finals was on 25th January, in which Tom clearly starred. Unfortunately Jesus College was defeated 125 points to 280 by Emmanuel College, Cambridge. His team got another stab at the quarter finals in February which they unfortunately lost to Edinburgh.
